This recruitment notification (NITW/CED/GTD/NHAI/PA-2026) announces 01 (One) vacancy for a purely temporary and project-based appointment under a sponsored research project funded by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The Project Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity for diploma holders and engineering graduates in Civil Engineering to gain hands-on research experience in highway engineering, pavement technology, transportation engineering, and infrastructure development projects. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (Prof. Geotechnical Engineering Department) and will be engaged in various research activities including field investigations, laboratory testing, data collection and analysis, preparation of technical reports, and assisting in project documentation. The monthly remuneration for the Project Assistant position is Rs. 18,000/- (Rupees Eighteen Thousand Only) consolidated, which will be paid on a monthly basis subject to satisfactory performance and attendance. The engagement is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration or one year, whichever is earlier. There is no provision for regular employment, and the appointment does not confer any right for absorption or claim for regularization in NIT Warangal or any government organization. Candidates with Diploma or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering from recognized institutions with relevant academic performance are eligible to apply. The maximum age limit is 30 years as on the last date of application, with age relaxation applicable for reserved categories as per Government of India norms. The Civil Engineering Department has been actively involved in sponsored research projects, consultancy services, and technology development in areas of structural engineering, transportation engineering, water resources, environmental engineering, and geotechnical engineering. **Project Details and Research Focus:** The Project Assistant will be engaged in an NHAI-funded research project focusing on highway pavement evaluation, quality assessment, material testing, and infrastructure development studies. The project involves field visits to national highway stretches, collection of pavement samples, conducting laboratory tests such as CBR, compaction tests, aggregate testing, bitumen testing, and analysis of pavement performance. The candidate will also assist in data compilation using spreadsheets and specialized software, preparation of interim and final project reports, and coordination with project team members. **Key Responsibilities and Duties:** The selected Project Assistant will be required to perform the following responsibilities: assist the Principal Investigator in executing project activities as per work plan and schedule, conduct field surveys and investigations at project sites (may require travel to highway locations), collect pavement and soil samples following standard procedures, perform laboratory tests on samples using equipment available in Highway Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering laboratories, record and maintain test data systematically in registers and digital formats, prepare technical drawings and charts using AutoCAD or similar software, assist in data analysis and interpretation under guidance of PI, prepare monthly progress reports and presentations, maintain laboratory equipment and ensure safety protocols, coordinate with project collaborators and field staff, and attend project review meetings as required. **Work Environment and Learning Opportunities:** Working at NIT Warangal provides excellent exposure to advanced research methodologies, modern testing equipment, experienced mentors, and collaborative academic environment. The selected candidate must devote full time to project work and cannot undertake any other employment, consultancy, or private practice during the engagement period. Any misconduct, negligence, or unsatisfactory performance may lead to immediate termination of services.
