The CSIR - Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), Mysore, one of India's premier food research laboratories under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has announced recruitment for the position of Project Associate-I (PAT-I) under Advertisement No. PAT.02/2026. About the Project Associate Position

The Project Associate-I will work on specific research projects related to food technology, food processing, food chemistry, nutrition, or related areas under the guidance of senior scientists at CSIR-CFTRI. Responsibilities include conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing research reports, assisting in publications, and contributing to project deliverables.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess either B.Tech/B.E OR M.Sc in relevant disciplines such as Food Technology, Food Science & Nutrition, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related fields from recognized universities. The specific discipline requirements will be mentioned in the detailed project notification.

Candidates should have good academic records with minimum 60% marks in the qualifying degree (55% for reserved categories). Practical laboratory skills, knowledge of analytical techniques, and familiarity with research methodology are highly desirable. Prior research experience through projects, dissertations, or internships will be considered advantageous during selection.

Fellowship and Benefits

Selected Project Associates will receive monthly fellowship as per CSIR norms. Candidates who have qualified in National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or equivalent examinations will receive Rs. 31,000/- per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as applicable. Candidates without NET/GATE qualification will receive Rs. 25,000/- per month plus HRA.

In addition to the monthly fellowship, Project Associates may be entitled to contingency grants for research-related expenses, access to institute facilities including library and hostels (subject to availability), and opportunities to attend conferences and training programs. The fellowship may be revised as per CSIR guidelines from time to time.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit for applicants is 35 years as on the last date of application. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, and up to 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) will be applicable as per Government of India rules. Women candidates and candidates with prior research experience may also be eligible for age relaxation as per CSIR norms.

Selection Process

Applications will be screened for eligibility based on educational qualifications, age criteria, and relevance to the project. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and/or personal interview at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysore. The interview will assess technical knowledge, research aptitude, understanding of the subject area, laboratory skills, and overall suitability for the project.
