The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has announced recruitment for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) in the Department of Histopathology. This is a project-based contractual position under the ICMR-funded research project with Advertisement Number Histo/AB/ICMR/26/109.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will work under the Department of Histopathology on ICMR-sponsored research projects. Key responsibilities include conducting molecular biology experiments, performing immunological assays and flow cytometry analysis, maintaining cell cultures and conducting related experiments, analyzing research data and maintaining laboratory records, assisting in manuscript preparation and research presentations, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and ethical guidelines.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a 1st class Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related fields from a recognized university. This includes integrated postgraduate degrees. Alternatively, candidates with a 2nd class Postgraduate degree along with a Ph.D. in relevant disciplines are also eligible to apply.

Desirable experience includes at least 2 years of hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, gene cloning, and DNA/RNA extraction. Experience in immunology techniques, flow cytometry, and cell culture methods will be given strong preference during selection. Candidates with research publications in peer-reviewed journals and experience working on ICMR or similar government-funded projects will have additional advantages.

Salary and Benefits

The selected candidate will receive a monthly consolidated salary of Rs. 67,200/-. This salary structure follows ICMR guidelines for Project Research Scientist-I positions. Age Limit and Relaxation

This typically includes 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates, 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and relaxation for departmental candidates as per applicable rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted through a Personal Interview scheduled on January 30, 2026, at 02:00 PM at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Candidates will be assessed on their academic qualifications, research experience, practical knowledge of laboratory techniques, understanding of research methodology, communication skills, and overall suitability for the research project. Shortlisting will be based on educational qualifications and relevant experience.
