Complete Job Details
The Subordinate Services Selection Board, Punjab (PSSSB) has announced a major recruitment drive for 406 Group D posts across various departments of the Punjab Government. This is one of the largest recruitment notifications released by PSSSB in recent times, providing excellent employment opportunities for candidates who have passed Matriculation (10th standard). The vacancy has been increased from the initially announced 331 posts to 406 posts, offering more opportunities to eligible job seekers in Punjab.
Group D positions are essential support staff roles in government departments and include posts such as Peon, Beldar, Chowkidar, Mali, Sweeper, Water Carrier, and other similar positions. These employees play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of government offices by providing basic support services. The selected candidates will be posted in various departments including Health, Education, Police, Revenue, and other state government departments across Punjab.
The recruitment offers a pay scale of Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 56,900 per month under Level-1 of the 7th Pay Commission. Along with the basic salary, employees are entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits as applicable to Punjab Government employees. The position also provides job security, pension benefits after retirement, medical facilities, and opportunities for career advancement through departmental promotions.
PSSSB follows a transparent and merit-based selection process. The recruitment involves a written examination that tests candidates on general knowledge, reasoning ability, basic mathematics, and Punjabi language skills. The last date to apply online has been extended to 26 January 2026, giving additional time for eligible candidates to submit their applications through the official PSSSB website.
One of the key eligibility requirements is knowledge of Punjabi language up to Matric level. Candidates must have studied Punjabi as a subject in their 10th standard examination. This requirement ensures that selected candidates can effectively communicate in the official state language while performing their duties. The recruitment is open to all Indian citizens, with age relaxation provided to reserved categories as per Punjab Government rules.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking government employment with minimum educational qualifications. The positions offer stability, regular income, and a chance to serve the people of Punjab through government service.
