The institute is conducting a walk-in interview for 47 positions of Junior Resident (Non-Academic) on a tenure basis of six months across various specialized medical departments. This recruitment drive represents a valuable opportunity for MBBS graduates to gain clinical experience at one of India's premier medical institutions while earning competitive remuneration. Established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), AIIMS Kalyani aims to address regional imbalances in quality tertiary healthcare and achieve self-sufficiency in medical education and training. Located in the Nadia district of West Bengal, the institute provides comprehensive healthcare services while training the next generation of medical professionals. The institution is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern medical equipment, and experienced faculty members dedicated to excellence in medical education and patient care. The current recruitment notification bears Advertisement Number /E-12015/22/26-(SR/T/JR) and announces 47 vacant positions distributed across various categories. The reservation-wise breakup includes 4 posts for Unreserved (UR) category, 10 posts for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 19 posts for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 9 posts for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 5 posts for Scheduled Tribes (ST). This distribution ensures equitable representation and provides opportunities to candidates from all sections of society in accordance with Government of India reservation policies. The position of Junior Resident (Non-Academic) is crucial in the medical education ecosystem, providing MBBS graduates with hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of senior doctors and consultants. Junior Residents work across various departments including Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Anesthesiology, and other specialties. This multidisciplinary exposure enhances clinical skills, diagnostic abilities, and patient management capabilities, preparing doctors for successful careers in medicine. To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must possess an MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Additionally, candidates must have completed their compulsory rotating internship and should possess an internship completion certificate at the time of the walk-in interview. Registration with any State Medical Council or the NMC is mandatory, as candidates must be licensed medical practitioners to provide clinical services. These eligibility criteria ensure that only qualified and registered medical professionals are appointed to deliver quality healthcare services. An important eligibility condition specifies that candidates who passed their MBBS degree (including internship) not earlier than three years before January 31, 2026, will be considered for this recruitment. This means candidates who completed their MBBS between February 2023 and January 2026 are eligible to apply. Furthermore, candidates who have already completed two terms of Junior Residency (either at AIIMS or any other institution) will not be considered for this recruitment. However, experience in Army Medical Services, Central Health Services, private nursing homes, and private practice will be treated as equivalent to Junior Residency (Non-Academic). The remuneration package for Junior Resident positions is highly attractive and follows the 6th Central Pay Commission pay scale of Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400. According to the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix, this corresponds to Level 10, which provides significantly enhanced salary structure. Additionally, medical graduates are entitled to Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) as per government rules, further enhancing the overall compensation package. This competitive remuneration ensures financial stability during the residency period. The walk-in interview for these 47 positions has been scheduled for February 4, 2026, at the AIIMS Kalyani campus. Candidates must report to the Administrative Building, Ground Floor, Welcome Center of AIIMS Kalyani at 09:00 hours on the interview date. Document verification will commence at 09:30 hours onwards, followed by the interview process starting from 10:00 hours onwards. It is crucial to note that candidates reporting after 10:00 AM will not be allowed to participate in the interview process under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates are advised to plan their journey accordingly and reach the venue well in advance. The maximum age limit for Junior Resident positions is 33 years as on the date of publication of the notification on the institute website. Age relaxation is available for various categories as per Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) guidelines. Specifically, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in the Orthopedically Physically Handicapped (OPH) category are eligible for 10 years of age relaxation beyond the upper age limit. However, it is important to note that SC/ST/OBC candidates applying for unreserved vacancies will not receive any age relaxation benefits. Regarding the application fee, Unreserved, OBC, and EWS category candidates must pay Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) through Demand Draft drawn in favor of "AIIMS KALYANI INTERNAL RESOURCES ACCOUNT" payable at Kalyani. SC and ST category candidates are completely exempted from paying any application fee. Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances, and applications received without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected without any consideration. The selection process is based entirely on the walk-in interview performance. The interview panel, comprising senior faculty members and medical experts, will assess candidates on various parameters including academic performance, clinical knowledge, communication skills, attitude, and overall suitability for the residency position. Candidates must carry their filled application form in the prescribed format along with the application fee demand draft at the time of the interview. Comprehensive documentation is required at the time of the walk-in interview and subsequent joining. Candidates must bring original certificates along with one set of self-attested photocopies of the following documents: Identity Proof (PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, Aadhar Card), Address Proof, 10th and 12th standard certificates and mark sheets, all MBBS mark sheets (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and final year professional examinations), MBBS degree certificate, proof of MBBS exam attempts, Internship Completion Certificate, NMC/State Medical Council registration certificate, reservation category certificates (for OBC/SC/ST/PwD candidates), and two recent passport-size photographs.
