Complete Job Details

The Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH), Alipurduar District, under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, has released an important recruitment notification for medical professionals. The district health administration is conducting a walk-in interview for 06 posts of Medical Officer and Specialist Medical Officer on a contractual basis under various national health programs. This recruitment initiative, issued under Advertisement Number DH&FWS/APD/No. 903, dated January 14, 2026, aims to strengthen the healthcare delivery system in Alipurduar district by engaging qualified medical professionals to serve in government healthcare facilities. Alipurduar district, located in northern West Bengal, shares international borders with Bhutan and serves a diverse population spread across rural and semi-urban areas. The district health infrastructure comprises primary health centers, community health centers, sub-divisional hospitals, and the district hospital, all working collectively to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the population. The District Health & Family Welfare Samiti operates under the National Health Mission framework, implementing various national health programs related to maternal and child health, communicable disease control, non-communicable disease management, and preventive healthcare initiatives. The current recruitment notification announces 06 vacant positions distributed between general Medical Officer roles and specialized Specialist Medical Officer positions across various clinical disciplines. Medical Officers are required to provide comprehensive primary and secondary healthcare services including outpatient consultations, emergency medical care, inpatient management, participation in health camps, immunization drives, and implementation of national health programs. Specialist Medical Officers with postgraduate qualifications in specific medical disciplines are needed to provide advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services in their respective specialties. The remuneration structure for these contractual positions is highly competitive, reflecting the critical nature of healthcare services in the district. Medical Officer positions with MBBS qualification offer a monthly remuneration of Rs. 60,000/-, while Specialist Medical Officers with postgraduate qualifications (MD/MS/DNB/Diploma in clinical specialties) are offered Rs. 70,000/- per month. Additionally, medical professionals engaged on a daily basis for specific healthcare activities or medical camps are offered Rs. 3,000/- per day. This attractive compensation package ensures that qualified doctors are motivated to serve in district healthcare facilities. Educational qualification requirements vary based on the position applied for. For general Medical Officer positions, candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a medical college recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Candidates must have completed their compulsory rotating internship and must possess a valid registration certificate from any State Medical Council or the NMC. This registration must remain valid throughout the period of contractual engagement, as practicing medicine without valid registration violates medical practice regulations. For Specialist Medical Officer positions, candidates must possess an MBBS degree followed by a postgraduate degree (MD/MS), postgraduate diploma, or DNB (Diplomate of National Board) qualification in the relevant clinical specialty. Recognized specialties include General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and other clinical disciplines as specified in the official notification. Specialists must also maintain valid registration with the appropriate medical council throughout their contract period. Experience requirements specify that relevant clinical experience will be calculated from the date of obtaining the required qualification (MBBS for Medical Officers, PG qualification for Specialists) until the date of application. Experience gained during internship or residency training does not count toward this requirement. However, post-qualification experience in government hospitals, medical colleges, corporate hospitals, nursing homes, or private practice will be considered. Candidates with longer and more diverse clinical experience will have an advantage during the selection process. The maximum age limit for applicants is set at 67 years as on January 1, 2026. This liberal age policy allows retired medical professionals and experienced practitioners to contribute their expertise to the district health system. Upper age limit relaxations are not specifically mentioned; however, the 67-year maximum age itself provides sufficient flexibility for candidates across various career stages. This policy recognizes that medical expertise and clinical judgment improve with experience, making senior medical professionals valuable assets for the healthcare system. An application fee is prescribed for candidates belonging to different categories. Unreserved (UR) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category candidates must pay Rs. 100/- as application fee. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes Category A (OBC-A), Other Backward Classes Category B (OBC-B), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories are required to pay a reduced application fee of Rs. 50/-. The application fee must be paid through Demand Draft drawn in favor of "DH & FWS, ALIPURDUAR, NON NHM ACCOUNT" payable at Alipurduar. No other mode of payment such as cash, cheque, or money order will be accepted. The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. Candidates belonging to reserved categories must submit caste certificates issued by the competent authority of West Bengal Government only. For OBC category candidates, the caste certificate must specifically mention whether the candidate belongs to OBC-A or OBC-B category, as this distinction affects reservation benefits. Re-validated caste certificates must be produced during document verification; failure to submit proper certificates will result in cancellation of candidature. Central Government OBC certificates are not acceptable for West Bengal State Government recruitments. The walk-in interview has been scheduled for January 29, 2026, commencing at 11:00 AM onwards. The venue for the walk-in document verification and interview is the 3rd Floor Conference Hall at the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Alipurduar, located at Babupara, Maya Talkies Road, Ward No-12, Pin-736121, West Bengal.
