Age Limit for Project Research Scientist-I Position

Maximum Age Limit:

• Candidates must not exceed 35 years of age as on the last date of application (24th January 2026)
• This age limit follows ICMR norms for Project Research Scientist-I positions

Age Calculation:

Age will be calculated as on 24th January 2026 (last date for application submission). Candidates born after 24th January 1991 are eligible to apply.

Age Relaxation Provisions

Additional Age Relaxation:

• Women Candidates: Relaxation of 5 years as per ICMR guidelines
• Candidates with Continuous Research Experience: Relaxation may be considered for candidates with continuous research experience in relevant fields, subject to approval

Important Notes on Age Relaxation:

• Candidates claiming age relaxation must submit valid caste/disability certificates issued by competent authorities
• Certificates should be in the prescribed format as per Government of India norms
• OBC certificate should specifically mention "Non-Creamy Layer" status valid for the current financial year
• Cumulative age relaxation will be applicable where multiple grounds exist

Educational Qualification Requirements

Essential Qualifications (Any One):

Option 1: M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry

• Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from a recognized university
• Should be approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)
• Minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.Pharm degree
• Thesis/dissertation work in medicinal chemistry or drug discovery will be an added advantage

Option 2: M.Sc. in Chemistry

• Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from a recognized university
• Specialization in Organic Chemistry preferred
• Minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.Sc. degree
• Project work or research internship in synthetic chemistry will be beneficial

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

Academic Background:

• Strong foundation in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry
• Knowledge of drug design principles and structure-activity relationships
• Understanding of synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms

Technical Skills Required:

• Hands-on experience with organic synthesis techniques
• Proficiency in spectroscopic methods (NMR, IR, Mass Spectrometry) for compound characterization
• Familiarity with chromatographic techniques (TLC, Column Chromatography, HPLC)
• Knowledge of computational chemistry and molecular modeling (desirable)
• Experience with biological assays for pharmacological evaluation (preferred)

Research Experience:

• Prior research experience through M.Pharm/M.Sc. dissertation
• Experience in literature review and research methodology
• Publications in peer-reviewed journals (if any) will be advantageous
• Participation in conferences, workshops, or seminars related to pharmaceutical sciences

Additional Competencies:

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation
• Team collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and scientific data analysis software
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices
