Complete Job Details
The Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority (RSLSA) has released an important recruitment notification for engagement of Legal Aid Defense Counsels (LADC) under the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System 2026. This recruitment is for 10 positions across three levels: Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel. These positions are being created to strengthen the legal aid system in Rajasthan and provide quality legal representation to underprivileged and marginalized sections of society.
The Legal Aid Defense Counsel System is a revolutionary initiative aimed at ensuring access to justice for all citizens, particularly those who cannot afford legal representation. LADCs work exclusively on legal aided criminal matters from the pre-arrest stage through trial and appeal stages. They are responsible for providing comprehensive legal support including jail visits, case preparation, court representation, and ensuring that the constitutional right to legal aid is effectively implemented.
This is a contractual engagement initially for two years, with the possibility of yearly extensions based on satisfactory performance. The selected counsels will be posted in various districts of Rajasthan and will work under the supervision of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority. The positions offer competitive monthly retainership fees based on the class of town and the level of the post.
One of the unique aspects of this engagement is that selected lawyers will not be allowed to take any other private cases or retainership. They must devote their full time and attention to legal aided criminal matters. This ensures dedicated representation for legal aid beneficiaries and maintains the integrity of the system. The counsels must follow a prescribed Code of Ethics including no conflict of interest, no disclosure of confidential information, and no acceptance of gifts or advantages.
The recruitment is being conducted through District Legal Services Authorities across Rajasthan under the guidance of RSLSA. Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format along with required documents to the concerned DLSA before 23 January 2026. The selection process will be fair, transparent, and competitive, focusing on merit, knowledge, skills, practice experience, and suitability for the role.
This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers specializing in criminal law who are passionate about social justice and want to contribute to ensuring equal access to justice for all sections of society. The positions offer not just financial security but also immense professional satisfaction and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of disadvantaged individuals.
